Egyptian Sentenced To 25 Years For Spying For Israel

A 35-year-old engineer has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for handing over information about Egypt‘s nuclear program to Israel. Mohammed Sayyed Saber had pleaded not guilty before the High State Security Court, insisting that the material he gave to presumed Israeli agents was already in the public realm and that his actions were approved by the government. The alleged Israeli agents were tried in absentia. Saber’s actions took place in Saudi Arabia, where he said he kept officials at the Egyptian Embassy fully apprised. In particular, Saber said he provided the head of security at the embassy with a full written report.
