An 11-year old Egyptian boy died after being punched in the stomach by his teacher for failing to do his homework. The blow apparently broke four ribs and triggered a heart attack. Islam Amr Badr died in an Alexandria hospital. His 23-year-old math teacher, Haitham Nabeel Abdelhamid, is seemingly confused over why he has been sentenced to serve a six-year jail sentence for manslaughter. His attorney told the court that "Hitting [a pupil] is not banned in schools and my client did not break the law."
