An Egyptian court has handed down a two-year suspended sentence to a woman arrested for posting a video against sexual harassment. Amal Fathi, 38, was arrested in May after her video appeared online, and charged with spreading “fake news.” According the French news agency AFP, her sentence, which included a fine of almost $600, will be appealed, but the cost of doing so will exceed $1,000. International rights groups have embraced Fathi who is being portrayed as a survivor of sexual harassment and a crusader on the issue. A United Nations agency issued a report that claims some 60 per cent of Egyptian women have suffered from sexual harassment.
