Newly-elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy will visit the United States next month according to a spokesman. The visit will come during the opening of the fall session of the United Nations and is expected to include a meeting with President Obama, although no details or plans have been announced. In July, President Obama invited Morsy to the US and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has visited Morsy in Egypt. Meanwhile, the Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported that Egyptian and Israeli negotiators have reached an understanding regarding the situation in the Sinai Peninsula and Egyptian military moves there that are in violation of the 1979 treaty with Israel. In the course of its pursuit of terrorists, Egypt has deployed troops and tanks not authorized by the agreement. Egyptian officials had previously responded to reports from Israel by saying the military moves were carried out in full consultation with Israel.
