8 Pakistanis Killed in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan, Probe Underway

The Pakistani government confirmed on Sunday that eight of its citizens were killed in Iran’s southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan province, near the border with Pakistan.

According to an official statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the victims were found in Mehrestan County, a remote and volatile area that has long seen cross-border tensions and militant activity. The identities of those killed have not yet been released.

The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran and the Consulate in Zahedan are coordinating with Iranian authorities to investigate the incident and arrange for the repatriation of the victims’ remains, the statement said. “Further details regarding the identification of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their deaths will be shared as they become available,” the ministry added.

The killings come against the backdrop of ongoing unrest in the region, where terror groups including Jaish al-Adl, the Baloch Liberation Front, and the Baloch Liberation Army operate across both sides of the Iran-Pakistan border.
