Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Toronto on Sunday that his country’s airspace is closed to Israeli aircraft and has been since May 31st, following the Gaza flotilla incident. Israel, though, says it has not received any notification that its planes must avoid its Mediterranean neighbor. But on Sunday, an Israeli daily reported that a plane carrying Israeli army officers en route to Poland had to circumnavigate Turkish airspace. Israel’s Transport Ministry insists that its passenger planes continue to fly through Turkish airspace.
