Oil prices rose slightly over the weekend following a surprise announcement from OPEC that it was cutting production by 1.2 million barrels a day. Initially, the largest oil-producing nations had said they would reduce output by a daily one million. However, meeting in Qatar, oil ministers agreed the ongoing slide in prices had to be offset. Oil was trading before the meeting at a three-month low of around $59 per barrel.
