Egyptian interlocutors in the Fatah-Hamas talks have announced a further delay in resuming negotiations aimed at creating a unity government for the Palestinians. Following a change of date from August 7 to 25, a further delay until the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the feast of Eid-Al-Fitr has been announced. Palestinian Authority and Fatah-head Mahmoud ‘Abbas has set September 26 and 27 as the dates for a two-day conference of his newly-elected Palestinian National Council for the purpose of electing new members to the executive council of the Palestine Liberation Organization. The renewed talks in Cairo are expected to follow afterward.
