Fighting in and around the Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp in Tripoli became intense late Tuesday when the Lebanese army opened fire with artillery in an apparent effort to prevent members of Fatah Al-Islam from fleeing the camp. Earlier on Tuesday, a Lebanese soldier was hit by a sniper and died from the wound to his head. The death toll is nearing 100 since fighting began on May 20. Government troops are threatening to enter the camp if the Fatah Al-Islam fighters don’t surrender.
