In another indication that there is still life and lethality in the Islamic State – with or without a caliphate – a double bombing in Raqqa – ISIS’s former epicenter – on Tuesday killed 13 people. The explosions went off near an outpost of the Syrian Democratic Forces – the armed unit backed by the United States that more than a month ago declared victory over the ISIS. Gunmen for the Islamist terrorist remain active and are still capable of violence, as the attack demonstrated. They remain capable of hiding out in the Badia desert and using its vast terrain to launch terror strikes.
