First Permanent Foreign Military Force Takes Up Positions in Israel

For the first time in Israel‘s history, a foreign military force has taken up permanent positions on its soil. A 120-man force from the U.S. European Command deployed an early-warning radar system intended to provide additional protection against Iranian ground-to-ground missiles. The force is located at the Nevatim Air Force Base in the southern Negev region. The new system works in tandem with the Arrow anti-missile defense system, allowing an incoming missile to be destroyed before it reaches Israel.
