Foreign Ministry – Human Rights Watch Row Continues

Following ongoing accusations between the Israeli Foreign Ministry and Human Rights Watch, the ministry is now revealing that Mark Garlasco, the organization’s senior military researcher is an enthusiastic collector of Nazi memorabilia. The revelation follows accusations made by the ministry three weeks ago, that Joe Stork, deputy director of Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa division, is a radical anti-Zionist who does not recognize the State of Israel’s right to exist. Garlasco has authored several very harsh reports about the Israeli army, especially regarding the military operation in Gaza in January 2009. A spokesperson for the organizations did confirm that while Garlasco is a collector of Nazi memorabilia using the pseudonym Flak88, a German anti-aircraft shell, he is not pro-Nazi merely that he has an interest in military history. "I would reply, but I don’t want to encourage them” Garlasco wrote on a blog using his pseudonym regarding the allegations.
