Despite protests from the Israeli government, Greece is set to extend formal recognition to the “state of Palestine” in a parliamentary vote set for Tuesday with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in attendance. On Monday, Abbas will meet with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. The stage was set for recognition when the foreign affairs and defense committee of the parliament unanimously passed a resolution last week.
