Gunmen from Islamic State Executed 600 Iraqi Prisoners in June

A new report by Human Rights Watch says that gunmen from IS systematically executed abut 600 male inmates form a prison outside the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. According to Human Rights Watch, the vast majority of those killed were Shi’ite. The report says that after seizing the prison, the gunmen separated the Sunni from the Shi’ites, then forced the Shi’ite men to kneel along the edge of a nearby ravine and shot them with assault rifles and automatic weapons. The report was based on interviews with 15 prisoners who survived the massacre.
