Hamas Chief in Gaza Reports Egypt’s Morsi Relaxing Regulations at Border

The head of the Hamas government ruling the Gaza Strip is reporting the first signs of a more harmonious relationship with the new Egyptian government.  Is’mail Haniyya told reporters that Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi promised to increase the hours of operation of the Rafah border crossing point to 12-hours per day and that Palestinians living abroad will be given automatic 27-hour visas in order to perfect their travel plans and not be in violation of travel laws. According to the Hamas prime minister, the blacklists of those banned from Gaza during the Mubarak days will no longer be used. Egypt’s consulate in the Gaza Strip will also be re-opened.
