Hamas’ Incendiary Kites Becoming Formidable Weapon On Gaza Border
Those who assert that less is more or that simple is more effective than complex could be discussing current efforts by Hamas in the Gaza Strip to inflict damage on Israel. During seven weeks of mass rioting along the border while more than 100 Palestinians died as they attempted to penetrate the border fence and enter Israeli territory, Hamas cajoled its operatives and zealots to test the border security, in many cases at the cost of their lives. The first inkling of being able to bloody the steadfast Israelis who used snipers to prevent infiltrations came with simple kites soaring above-ground while dropping its incendiary payloads into fields of crops. Despite using drones and other technology, the Israelis nevertheless have been unable to prevent massive fires that are consuming crops at an alarming rate. Officials at the Israel Nature and Parks Authority report concern for wildlife as well as the crops that are being destroyed by fires that continue to burn across large swaths of farm land. The Karmiya Reserve alone is said to have so far lost 75 acres to fire.
