Hamas Official: No Movement on Talks with Fatah

An official who served as deputy prime minister in the Hamas-led government dissolved by Mahmoud ‘Abbas, said on Sunday that there was no momentum in efforts by Hamas and Fatah to reconcile. Nasser al-Sha’er said there was nothing beyond "calls and mutual declarations of readiness," and "there are no committees working on finding the mechanisms." Al-Sha’er said that while Palestinian Authority Chairman and Fatah head Mahmoud ‘Abbas called for a resumption of talks earlier this month, and Hamas accepted the call, no group – he suggested the Arab League – had come forward to facilitate a dialogue between the two factions.
