Israel’s army issued a statement on Sunday saying it has killed a Hamas military leader in Hebron at the southern end of the West Bank. Shihab A-Natsheh died in a gun battle with soldiers. Israel said he was behind the February suicide bombing in Dimona that left a woman dead and a dozen people wounded. On news of Natsheh’s death, Hamas’ military wing said it would avenge the killing immediately and painfully. While a cease fire is holding between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the deal does not apply to the West Bank, or Judea and Samaria, as it is known by Israelis.
