The Media Line Hamas Said To Be Willing To Talk, But Threatens To Kill Captive Soldier

Palestinian sources said on Sunday that Hamas has told Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud ‘Abbas that it is willing to accept a cease-fire with Israel, but that Israel must end its military operations in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank. The sources said that Hamas has threatened to kill Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier kidnapped last June, unless Israel agrees to a halt in hostilities. ‘Abbas has been meeting with a number of Palestinian factions, trying to sell the idea of a one-month cease-fire that could be extended if successful. Almost 50 Palestinians have died as the result of Israeli raids over the past 10 days.
