Hamas Tribunal Sentences Alleged Collaborator to Death by Hanging

After calling for a new crackdown on alleged collaborators with Israel, the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip has sentenced a man to death by hanging. At least 30 such sentences have been handed out since Hamas took control of Gaza from Fatah in 2007. Last November, six alleged collaborators were executed on public roadways, the body of one dragged through the streets tied to the back of motorcycles. The Palestinian Ma’an news agency says its review of public records indicate many of the condemned men said to be caught “red-handed” aiding Israeli intelligence during its “Operation Pillar of Cloud” were already in custody before the alleged crimes took place.
