Israel’s new Defense Minister, Moshe Ya’alon, took an Israeli Air Force helicopter to his daughter’s wedding last week, Israel Television Channel Two revealed. Ya’alon’s bureau said the helicopter trip allowed the Defense Minister to spend the day working before hopping on board for the trip to southern Israel. “To avoid lateness, it was decided, out of lack of choice, that the defense minister would arrive at the event by helicopter,” a Defense Ministry statement said. Channel Two said the trip cost around $26,000 for the hour and a half flight each way, plus waiting at the event. Ya’alon’s office put the price tag at closer to $1500.
