The head of the Syrian opposition forces has warned the Lebanese government that if Hizbullah fighters are not reined-in, it will find the two-year-old civil war on its doorstep. Speaking from Amman, Gen. Salim Idriss, a former general in President Bashar Al-Assad’s army, told the Beirut-based newspaper The Daily Star that, “We want the Lebanese president to guarantee that Hizbullah will not enter our territory.” Attempting to debunk rumors of regime success against the Free Syrian Army as President Assad’s forces try to re-take the city of Qusair, Idriss said the rebels are well-armed and are being bolstered by reinforcements as they defend the city. Referring to the government troops, Idriss said, “Their dead are lying in the streets.” Idriss, who is in Amman for the “Friends of Syria” conference this week, has the backing of the United States.
