Hizbullah Chief Warns Of Possible War With Israel

Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah reportedly warned the terror group’s top commanders of a 70 percent chance that war would break out with Israel this summer, and that he could be targeted for assassination beforehand. “I may not remain among you for very long – it is possible that the entire first level of leadership could be killed,” the Kuwait-based Al Rai news agency quoted Nasrallah as saying. “Measures and procedures have already been taken to be ready even if this extreme case happens,” he purportedly added. According to the report, the head of Iran’s Lebanese proxy believes that conflict is likely to erupt by surprise and that Israel is liable to evacuate citizens from northern communities to prevent Hizbullah fighters from using cross-border raids to abduct hostages. Nasrallah has hinted that the Israel Defense Forces had failed to locate and destroy all of Hizbullah’s subterranean tunnels penetrating Israeli territory during Operation Northern Shield, a mission undertaken to achieve this late last year. Jerusalem also fears that Tehran has transferred to its underling advanced technologies that can transform rudimentary projectiles into precision-guided missiles that can strike anywhere in the Jewish state. For its part, Hizbullah has started feeling the effects of US sanctions on the Islamic Republic. Tehran is its primary financial backer and has been forced to cut funding to the terror organization. Israel has conducted hundreds of air strikes in Syria to destroy Iranian arms manufacturing facilities and weapons convoys destined for Hizbullah in Lebanon. On Monday, Nasrallah is slated to deliver a rare address on regional developments.
