Hizbullah Claims to Shoot Down Israeli Drone

Hizbullah has claimed that its forces shot down and recovered an Israeli drone in southern Lebanon, while the Israel Defense Forces alleged the unmanned aerial vehicle crashed due to technical issues. An Israeli military spokesperson said the drone had been performing a routine reconnaissance operation in the area, adding that “there is no concern that information could be [taken from the drone].” The incident occurred less than two weeks after a major confrontation along the volatile shared border. On September 1, Hizbullah fired anti-tank missiles at Israeli military positions located near the village of Avivim, to which the IDF responded by targeting a number of the Iranian proxy’s military assets. While the situation appears contained for now, the IDF was reportedly prepared to undertake a massive operation in Lebanon had the attack been more extensive and caused casualties.
