Hundreds in London Call to ‘Free Palestine’ – with Corbyn’s Blessing

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists marched through London on Saturday to commemorate the “Nakba,” or catastrophe, a term used by Palestinians to denote Israel’s creation in 1948. Ahed Tamimi, an 18-year-old “icon” best known for viral videos showing her harassing Israeli security forces in the West Bank, led the procession. In 2017, an Israeli court sentenced Tamimi to eight months in prison for slapping a soldier. Labour Party chief Jeremy Corbyn, who is mired in anti-Semitic scandals, expressed support for the demonstration on his Facebook page. “We cannot stand by or stay silent at the continuing denial of rights and justice to the Palestinian people,” the politician wrote. The prime ministerial frontrunner who once referred to Hamas and Hizbullah as “friends” added, “The Labour Party is united in condemning the ongoing human rights abuses by Israeli forces.” The march came against the backdrop of last week’s hostilities between Israel and Gaza-based terrorist groups, which fired nearly 700 rockets at Israeli population centers.
