In Response to More Rockets, Israel Tightens Gaza Noose, Prevents Arrival of Fuel

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has tightened the noose around the Gaza Strip another notch by adding fuel to the list of items prohibited from being brought in through the Kerem Shalom crossing point, the sole point of entry for food and goods. Last week, in an attempt to make life so uncomfortable for residents that they would force a new government, Netanyahu prohibited all except humanitarian necessities and fuel. Because the phenomenon of “terror kites” – kites dropping incendiary devices – continued, the prime minister added fuel to the list of banned goods. Food and medicine are permitted entry. Gaza’s fishermen shared in the punishment as the area in which they are allowed to fish was shrunk down.
