The two-day death toll in fighting in Syria’s southern Daraa Province reached 88 according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the principal monitoring organization. The dead were evenly divided between soldiers of the Assad regime and rebel fighters. After Islamist rebels with links to Al-Qa’ida took control of a strategic hill on Thursday, they pressed-on to claim another hilltop that would be a link toward connecting Daraa to the Israeli Golan Heights.
