The almost daily release and publication of letters to Congress and open letters and advertisements by affinity groups espousing support or opposition to the Iranian nuclear deal continued on Wednesday when 200 retired senior military officers weighed in against the deal. Joining retired diplomats, rabbis in favor and rabbis opposed, and even nuclear scientists, the retired officers differed with the conclusions of another group of armed forces retirees, declaring in a letter to Congress reported by the Washington Post that, “The agreement will enable Iran to become far more dangerous, render the Mideast still more unstable and introduce new threats to American interests as well as our allies.” The public relations battle will continue until Congress votes on a resolution of rejection on September 17.
