Iran, Oman Aim To Boost Trade and Economic Cooperation

Iran’s interim President Mohammad Mokhber emphasized the importance of leveraging the untapped economic capacities of Iran and Oman to significantly boost bilateral trade. Mokhber made these remarks during a meeting Monday with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Hamad al-Busaidi in Tehran, the Iranian president’s office said in a statement.

Mokhber described the relationship between Iran and Oman as “historical and brotherly,” highlighting the potential for substantial growth in trade by exploiting both countries’ unused capacities. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Oman, a strategy initiated by the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Expressing optimism, Mokhber stated that new measures would be implemented to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors, driven by the determination of high-ranking officials from both nations.

The Omani foreign minister offered condolences over the deaths of Raisi and his entourage, including Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a helicopter crash on May 19 in northwestern Iran. He affirmed that relations between Oman and Iran are “strategic and important,” and expressed Oman’s desire to expand and diversify its ties with Iran.
