Tehran used the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Iran-Iraq war on Saturday and Sacred Defense Day to flex its military muscles and warn that war with Israel is inevitable. Revolutionary Guard commander Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari held the power of the podium and used it to charge that “the cancerous tumor Israel” seeks to start a war with Iran which, according to Jafari, “will lead to their destruction.” Continuing a theme he’s been harping on recently, Jafari said that Israel will be destroyed if it launches a strike against its nuclear facilities. A warning that Iran will attack “all of Israel’s borders” was widely interpreted to be a reference to using Iranian proxies Hizbullah in the north and Hamas in the south against Israel should hostilities break-out.
