Iranian Nuclear Negotiator: U.S. and Israel in No Position to Strike

Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator told a Pakistani website that neither the United States nor Israel were in position to strike at Iranian nuclear sites. Ali Larijani cited this summer’s war with Hizbullah to support Tehran’s contention that Israel was not capable of forcibly removing the Iranian nukes. He said the war "exposed the myth of Zionist military might" and said the conflict "left Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as a dead body." Larijani said the United States had weak spots in the Middle East and would not dare to embark on another military campaign in the region. Larijani argued that Iran was "a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) and is under full safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
