Troops from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard on Saturday crossed into northern Iraq and killed 30 members of a Kurdish opposition group. The Iranians claimed the men targeted were responsible for the bombing of a military parade last Wednesday that killed 12 women and children in the town of Mahabad, but no one has taken responsibility for that incident. State-run television reported that Revolutionary Guard members remained in hot pursuit of at least two Kurds who escaped the initial assault. The Revolutionary Guard periodically fires artillery across the border into areas where the Kurdish rebels hide out.
