Iranian Spokesman says “No Trump-Rouhani Meeting at UN Opening Sessions”

The meeting that has sent ripples from Jerusalem to Washington by merely suggesting it is not going to happen. On Monday, the state-run television reported that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in response to a Trump administration comment that President Trump and his Iranian counterpart will not meet in New York during the opening sessions of the United Nations General Assembly. After a disastrous attack on Saudi oil fields executed by Iranian-proxy Yemen-based Houthi Islamists sent oil prices soaring 15%, the Houthis said the Saudi oil refineries remain on the list of targets. President Trump tweeted that the U.S. is “locked and loaded” hinting at a military response if the source of the attack is verified. The flare-up comes after many Trump supporters who have steadfastly agreed with the President’s Iran policies in recent weeks expressed concern that the White House talk of a Trump-Rouhani summit is an about-face. Israeli officials, in particular, have feared what some say is a sign that the Jewish state will be “thrown under the bus” as Washington pursues its new policy.
