Israel’s Shin Bet domestic security agency reported on Sunday that it had discovered an Iranian working to create an intelligence infrastructure inside of Israel for Tehran and arrested its leader at Ben Gurion International Airport as he tried to leave the country. Ali Mansouri, a Belgian citizen, reportedly stayed at a hotel opposite the American Embassy in Tel Aviv where he photographed the diplomatic mission and activities taking place in the compound along with the airport and other sensitive sites. The investigation is ongoing and the scope of Mansouri’s activities is not yet known, but it is believed he was stopped in the process of establishing an espionage infrastructure for Iran. Mansouri is believed to have been handled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
