Iran announced on Wednesday that the first test run of its nuclear plant in Bushehr was successful. The power plant was built by a Russian contractor. The 1,000-megawatt facility was scheduled to have been on-line by the end of 2007, but construction lagged behind schedule. It is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year. A spokesman for Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the news from Bushehr was “bad news” for the world and underscored that the “Iranians are making progress in the nuclear race.” Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in response to the news about the test run that Israel has all of its options on the table.
