The Iraqi government on Monday held a mass execution of 42 men it claims were guilty of ‘terrorism.’ Although each was convicted of a separate crime, all 42 were charged as ‘terrorists.’ Shiite Iraqis have been demanding that the government take stronger action against Sunnis following a number of suicide attacks and other actions that have left scores of Shiites dead. The mass hangings took place at Nassiriya prison in front of an audience comprised of members of families of those killed by the terrorists being executed. ISIS claims responsibility for most of the attacks and remains a potent force carrying out guerrilla warfare against Iraqi forces.
