ISIS Claims Berlin Massacre

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack in Berlin where a truck was driven into the crowded Christmas marketplace killing at least 12 and wounding more than 50. The city remains tense as police conduct a massive manhunt for the driver of the truck who fled on foot after the attack. On Monday, a Pakistani man who had been detained because he fit the description of the person seen jumping out of the cab of the truck was released when police could not find forensic evidence linking him to the vehicle. The suspect-at-large was described by ISIS through its Amaq news agency as “a soldier of the ISIS [who] carried out the attack in response to calls for targeting citizens of the Crusader coalition.” But the terrorist group did not indicate whether the attack was planned and coordinated by ISIS or whether the killer was motivated by ISIS outreach and acted on his own.
