ISIS in Idlib Shows the Fat Lady Hasn’t Sung

While Western media continues to celebrate the defeat of the Islamic State – a story presented in a number of versions – facts on the ground in and around Idlib, Syria, evidence an unfinished war in which ISIS has taken its licks but remains a potent force on the battlefield. Idlib was one of the first footholds of ISIS and also one of the first locations from where ISIS was displaced. In recent days, ISIS – referred to in the region as Daesh – launched raids against Syrian troops that have resulted in the establishment of a modest foothold in the area.
