Islamic State Kills At Least 30 Rebels Near Jordanian Border

An Islamic State suicide bomber drove a vehicle packed with explosives into a Syrian rebel camp in a sparsely populated desert area near where the borders of Syria, Jordan and Iraq meet. A spokesman for Islamic State said they also attacked rebel outposts and seized weapons. The attack came as Turkey continued its attacks over the border in Syria to drive Islamic State away from the area. Syrian rebels, backed by Turkish special forces, tanks and planes entered one of Islamic State’s last strongholds on the Turkish-Syrian border. Together, the incidents show how border areas continue to be vulnerable, and how countries are trying to make sure the Syrian civil war, now well into its fifth year, remains contained inside Syria.
