Israel Allegedly Sends WhatsApp Messages Warning Beirut Residents Of Hizbullah Activities

Thousands of Beirut residents reportedly received WhatsApp messages from Israel, warning them of the dangers associated with Hizbullah’s military build-up in densely populated areas. “Near your home, a site belonging to Hizbullah has been located for some time. You are advised to take precautionary measures,” the cellular phone message read, according to Israeli media. This comes on the backdrop of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech last week at the United Nations in which he exposed three alleged Hizbullah weapons manufacturing facilities, including one adjacent to the international airport in Lebanon’s capital. The charge sparked a war-of-words between Jerusalem and Beirut and prompted the Lebanese foreign minister to lead a group of high-ranking diplomats on a tour of the purported site in a bid to discredit the claim. In response, Netanyahu accused Iranian-backed Hizbullah of “lying to the international community openly through the deceitful propaganda campaign carried out by the Lebanese foreign minister,” who he said guided the officials to a football field instead of the arms depot. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman revealed that the Israeli army has intelligence on additional Iranian and Hizbullah military sites which will be released in due course.
