Israel Arrests Four Palestinian Teens in Deadly Rock Throwing Incident

Four Palestinian teens, aged 16 to 19, have been arrested by Israeli intelligence operatives over the deadly incident in which the driver of a vehicle hit by rocks allegedly thrown by the detainees was killed when his car veered into a pole after being struck. Two women who were passengers in the car suffered injuries. The incident occurred on the eve of the Jewish New Year when rioting on the Temple Mount (Haram Al-Sharif to Muslims) was in full throttle. Each of the four is a resident of an east Jerusalem neighborhood and carries an Israeli identification card. The suspects told interrogators that their actions were specifically tied to it being the eve of the Jewish holy day. The incident is being cited by Israelis favoring new laws and regulations related to stone-throwing that are drawing an angry response from Palestinians.
