Israel’s military is offering film footage shot by a drone aircraft as proof that explosions that ripped through a residential neighborhood in the southern Lebanese village of Shehabiyeh on Friday occurred in a Hizbullah arms depot. The film reportedly showed weapons being moved in and out of the facility. The explosions triggered what was described as a “large fire,” but no casualties were reported. Israel insists that Hizbullah continues to build its arsenals south of the Litani river, which is prohibited by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1709 which ended the 2006 war between Hizbullah and Israel. Friday’s incident marked the third time this year that alleged Hizbullah weapons facilities experienced explosions.
