Israel Closes Palestinian Radio Station for 3 Months, Citing Incitement to Violence

Israeli forces closed the Al-Sanabel Palestinian radio station located in the West Bank near the city of Hebron on Tuesday, accusing its operators of incitement to violence. In the course of the operation against the station, five people were taken into custody and broadcast equipment was seized. Speaking of the operation, a spokesperson for the Israeli army said, “The radio station has repeatedly broadcast inciting content encouraging, celebrating and promoting violence and terrorism against Israelis.” Since the period of sustained violence erupted in October, four Palestinian broadcast entities have been closed. At the same time, some 222 Palestinians and 34 Israelis died in incidents where young Palestinians attacked Israelis with knives, guns and motor vehicles. The majority of violence has occurred in the vicinity of Hebron.
