Israel Considers Reducing Electricity to Gaza

Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak is considering a proposal to begin cutting electricity and gasoline to the Gaza Strip. The measure has been under consideration since Israel’s government deemed Gaza a hostile entity a month ago. The plan is to cut electricity initially for two hours every night, with a reduction in the transfer of gasoline. Those sanctions would be strengthened if there is no let up in the rocket fire into Israel. There was a direct hit to a home in the Israeli town, Sderot, on Tuesday. More than 1,000 missiles and mortar rounds have been fired into Israel from Gaza over the past four months, according to Jerusalem.
