Israeli media report that the Foreign Ministry has instructed staff at its nine consulates around the world to prepare for mass Jewish protests following the government’s decision to suspend plans for a pluralistic prayer area at the Western Wall. The Haaretz daily posted a memo sent to the consulates that called on the consulates to correct “a great deal of misinformation” saying that the decision was not cancelled but “suspended.” Reform and Conservative Jews in the US reacted angrily to the government decision, which was passed in 2016, saying they feel they are unrecognized and unwanted in Israel.
