Israel Military Strikes Underground Hamas Target, Blockade-Breaking Boats

One day after a bizarre incident in which ten Hamas operatives cut through the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip, entered Israeli territory and set fire to a vacant army snipers’ position before returning to Gaza unscathed while the army claimed it was watching all along, the Israel Defense Forces retaliated by blowing up an underground installation belonging to Hamas. Two Palestinian boats that were set to sail in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade of the Palestinian port were also targeted by the Israelis. So far, the army spokesman has had no explanation of Tuesday’s incident or why a ten-man force was allowed to infiltrate, set the fire and return to Gaza unimpeded. Hamas members have identified the goal of the mass demonstrations as providing cover for terrorist teams to enter Israel, attack a Jewish community and kill and capture as many as possible.
