Israel Planned Massive Retaliation to Hizbullah Attack

According to Israel’s Channel 12, the Israel Defense Forces were prepared to undertake a massive operation in Lebanon had Hizbullah’s Sunday attack been more extensive and caused casualties. “The fact that [Hizbullah leader Hassan] Nasrallah missed and didn’t kill any Israelis saved Hizbullah from the destruction of its precision missile program,” an IDF source was quoted as saying. “The planes were already in the air.” The source added that Israeli jets were circling over the Mediterranean Sea, ready to bomb targets linked to missile-production activities. Violence erupted along the volatile Israel-Lebanon border after Hizbullah fired anti-tank missiles at Israeli military positions located near the village of Avivim. In response, the IDF fired some 100 mortar rounds into southern Lebanon and struck limited Hizbullah assets by air. Many attribute the containment to an Israeli false-flag operation in which the IDF used a helicopter to transport soldiers in bandages and fake blood to a nearby medical center moments after the anti-tank missiles struck. This prompted Hizbullah to boast that its attack had succeeded in harming “the enemy.”
