Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has withdrawn his opposition to an American request to allow the PLO’s 1,000-strong Badr Brigade to be moved from Jordan to the Palestinian Authority. The move was first requested several weeks ago as one of the steps the Bush administration wanted taken to shore up Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud ‘Abbas in the event of a violent confrontation with Hamas.
