It is not clear what role the Israeli military has played in aiding Indian forces in Mumbai. Indian officials formally rejected the offer of help, however, that does not mean that there is not Israeli involvement behind the scenes. Israel and India work in tandem in military development and Israeli intelligence experts are a frequent fixture in India. Israel has dispatched a team of medics to aid in Mumbai, where as many as 30 Israelis are unaccounted for. With the attack on the Jewish center in the city, Israel is once again urging Jewish and Israeli buildings around the world to beef-up security. It is the type of warning always issued on these occasions, but security is already at a high at similar locations around the world because of repeated attacks on Jewish and Israeli institutions over the last 40 years.
