Israel Tells Security Council Iran Uses Commercial Airlines to Arm Hizbullah Terrorists

In a letter to the United Nations Security Council made public by Ambassador Danny Danon on Tuesday, Israel has accused Iran of using commercial airlines to ship weapons to the Iranian-backed, Lebanon-based Hizbullah terrorist organization. The letter, which didn’t offer any evidence to back the Israeli claim, explained how operatives of the Revolutionary Guard use airlines such as Iran-based Mahan Air to transfer arms to Beirut and Damascus and then use ground transportation to deliver them to the terrorist forces. The letter called for condemnations of Iran and Hizbullah, which is a key political component of the Lebanese government. Israeli officials hope that US President-elect Donald Trump will follow through on his campaign rhetoric critical of insufficient efforts to curb Iran’s support for terrorists throughout the region.
